Michael started his financial career in the foreign exchange and money markets in New York and Toronto. He transitioned to the equity side of the business in 1986 and has subsequently enjoyed a successful career as a Senior Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining Echelon Wealth Partners in April of 2016, through their acquisition of Dundee Goodman Private Wealth, he was a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager with Dundee Goodman Private Wealth where he spent eighteen years with the Dundee group of companies. He is also a former Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for BZW Canada which was the Investment Banking arm of Barclays Bank PLC.

 

Michael employs a disciplined approach to blue-chip portfolio management in both the Canadian and US markets. The LYSAN™ strategy (Let’s You Sleep at Night) employs the rigid discipline which is required to achieve a balance of solid growth and income over the long term while being defensive in nature. First and foremost, Michael is a seasoned Senior Portfolio Manager. He feels quite strongly that the “jack of all trades, master of none” approach which many of his competitors have adopted in recent years, potentially compromises investment performance for those who have not invested their serious longer-term equity assets with a focused Senior Portfolio Manager.   

 

Michael is actively engaged in volunteering and supporting the Ian Anderson House Cancer Hospice and the Oakville Galleries.

 

In his spare time Michael enjoys playing golf and squash.
